On this day in 1775, news reached Saratoga of the events at Lexington and Concord; in 1776, Benedict Arnold, military governor of Montreal, welcomes Benjamin Franklin, Samuel Chase, and Charles Carroll of Carrolton sent by the Continental Congress to create the 14th colony; in 1949, 32 village stores had historic window displays; in 2001, an Open House was conducted at the Schuylerville Central School to show the results of the recently completed construction program; in 2008 voters approved purchase of old school in Schuylerville for new town hall; and in 2009, Schuylerville Visitors Center director Richard Beresford passed away.
