On this day – April 22

On this day in 1778, the Continental Congress responds to British peace efforts by declaring that “the United States cannot hold … treaty … unless they … withdraw their fleets and armies…” and American John Paul Jones lead a naval raid on Whitehaven, England; in 1909, General Schuyler Steamer Co. held a fair; in 1970, Schuyler Prep students removed debris from canal as the first Earth Day was observed and in 2002, the Town of Saratoga Zoning Board of Appeals approved a variance to William Loomis for a shed on his property. On this day is a chronological timetable of events that occurred on this day in history around the Town of Saratoga.
