The men of Victory Mills have given of their time and in many instances their lives during this nation’s wars ever since the Revolution. that America might be preserved in peace.
Because of the proximity of World War 2 and the Korean conflict we can write quite accurately of the boys from this community who have served. One hundred men went from this little village and 100 came back – many of them, however, seriously wounded. They entered all branches of the service and the majority of them served overseas against the axis.
Holders of the Purple Heart are John Mitchell, William Purdy, Haviland Gordon, James Haley, Warren Knowlton, William Loomis and Nelson Mosher.
Those who died since being discharged from service are Louis Boivin, Joseph Cormie, William D’Avignon and John Martis.
Korean conflict servicemen were: Kenneth Sullivan, Harold Sullivan, Ronal Hughes, Robert Salls, Eugene Periard, Edgar White.
