On this day

On this day in 1895 it was reported that Miss Caroline R. Shepherd, of Deans Corners, who graduated in June from the Plattsburgh Normal school, has been appointed principal of the Broad street grammar school of that town; in 1900, W. S. Ostrander was chair of the Republican County Convention; in 1968, off the Azores the USS Saratoga was shadowed by Kipelovo-based Soviet aircraft and in 1969, Kenneth Fitzgerald was appointed chief of police for Schuylerville.
