On this day

On this day in 1864, the 77th New York Volunteer Regiment under the command of Colonel French lost 6 men killed or mortally wounded and 12 men wounded, and 1 man missing in the Battle of Fort Stevens in Northwest Washington, D.C., as part of the Valley Campaigns of 1864 and in 1895, the New York State Bankers’ association visited Schuylerville via special train from Saratoga Springs (they were at a convention in the city).
