On this day

On this day in 1777, American General Arthur St. Clair takes over command of Fort Ticonderoga from General Gates and Brunswick General Baron Riedesel described “I dined at noon, with (British) General Phillips, in company with Generals Carleton and Burgoyne, and then it was that I was made so happy by learning of” the arrival of the Baroness Riedesel; and the Baroness Riedesel described, “we again set out in three clashes, which are a kind of light chaise or carryall, very small and uncomfortable, but very fast; I could not bring my heart to trust a single one of my children to my women servants; and as our calashes were open and very small;” in 1953, a $1,150,000 bond approved for new high school and in 1971, there was a fire at Hudson Pulp & Paper Co. in Thompson in the Town of Greenwich.
