On this day in 1777. Baron Riedesel described ‘I entertained General Phillips at my quarters”; in 1818, the Champlain Canal was begun; in 1944, the USS Saratoga arrived at Bremerton, Washington and was under repair there through the summer; and in 2002, the Town of Saratoga Town Board meets and approved the concept of a 20 lot subdivision off Nielson Road then heard a report that a $10.5 million dollar restoration project on Lock 5 has neared completion.
