On this day

On this day in 1789, President George Washington attends a ball in his honor and dances with Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton; in 1915, the German U-20 (submarine) sank the British ocean liner Lusitania which resulted in approximately 1,200 civilians died including more than 100 U.S. citizen; in 1945, an unconditional surrender of all German Forces signed; in 1971 there were reports of $300 taken from Curtis Lumber; and in 1977, there was a celebration dinner for Black Horses.
