On this day in 1775, Philip Schuyler is named as a Continental Congress delegate; Israel Putman (former member of Rogers Rangers and served in Saratoga during the French and Indian War) arrives in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with troops from Connecticut; in 1777 New York adopts a new constitution; in 1998; George Tiche named town constable; and in 2002, a 5.1 Richter scale earthquake hits the area.
