On this day in 1865, Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee surrendered his army to Union Gen. Ulysses S. Grant at Appomattox Court House in Virginia; and 1884, Kickapoo Tribe performed Indian songs & dances at Opera House & sold 395 bottles of medicine; in 1990, Quaker Springs Sunshiners celebrated 20th anniversary and in 2001, the town board discusses Farmland Protection Proposal on 151 acres and reviews the assessment of Erie Boulevard Hydroelectric, owner of the power generating turbine located on Fish Creek behind Broad street which was reduced from $1,500,000 to $1,000.000.
