On this day in 1862, during the Civil War, the ironclads Monitor and Virginia (formerly Merrimac) clashed for five hours to a draw at Hampton Roads, Va; in 1894, the village of Victory contracted for 10 electric lights; in 1949, the Historical Publicity Group in Schuylerville was formed; and in 2010, the Glens Falls National Bank in Schuylerville was robbed; the perpetrator was arrested two days later.
