100 Years Ago, Suffragists Get Organized in Schuylerville


Schuylerville suffragists met at the Red Lion Inn Monday evening at 8 o’clock for the purpose or hearing an address by Miss Kathryn H. Starbuck. of Saratoga Springs. Inclement weather prevented the speaker from attending. The attendance was good, however. and the women have planned a meeting for next Tuesday evening at the Red Lion Inn. Mrs. Sarah Heath was chairman Monday evening. It was decided to form a study club to be known as the Schuylerville Suffragist Study club. A series of lessons on the subject will be taken up. These meetings will be held once a month at the Red Lion Inn, the proprietress of which, Mrs. W. T. Scully. has kindly offered the Inn as headquarters tor the organization. A committee from the last meeting reported. The following officers were elected: President, Mrs. Henry F. Toohey: vice president, Mrs. J. T. Campbell: treasurer, Miss Marie Scully; secretary. Miss Mabel B. Tefft. according to the Saratogian on 7 March 1917
