On this day

On this day in 1857, in its Dred Scott decision, the Supreme Court held that Scott, a slave, could not sue for his freedom in a federal court; in 1884, over 100 suffragists, led by Susan B. Anthony, present President Chester A. Arthur with a demand that he voice support for female suffrage; in 1970, there was a World Day of Prayer celebrated at the Reformed Church; and in 1982, Schuylerville Community Theater performed Sound of Music.
