Born on this day is 1732 is George Washington, Commander-in-chief of Continental forces during the American Revolution and first U.S. President. Washington did visit the Schuyler house in 1782 and 1783. On this day, in 1872, a balloon ascension happened at McCreedy’s store, Schuylerville. In 1949, there was a meeting to change name of Schuylerville to Saratoga. In 1968, a Piper Cup plane crashed on Bentley farm near Quaker Springs (near County 71 / Cedar Bluff Road and State Route 32). The pilot was unharmed.
