In 1895, the village president was very ill

The Schuylerville Standard (2 January 1895) reported “President of the Village. Miles Root is suffering very serverly with stomach difficulty. His condition is very critical.”
Miles Root was the son of John and Mahalu Root, b. Saratoga Co., N.Y. 31 January 1828. His health must have improved because he was advertising a business with his name in 1898. In 1890 the county records refer to him as a Doctor and provided services with the decease and criminal trials.
