Closson’s Undertaking and Embalming Parlors in 1895

The Schuylerville Standard (2 January 1895) had this advertisement for Closson’s Undertaking and Embalming Parlors.
There are many items to call attention to in this advertisement however the purchase of the “entire Undertaking Business and good will of Miles Root.”
Miles Root was the Village of Schuylerville President. (Today we use the term Mayor.). This same newspaper reported he was “suffering very serverly with stomach difficulty. His condition is very critical.“. We know that Miles Root son of John and Mahalu Root, b. Saratoga Co., N.Y. 31 January 1828, health must have improved as he was advertising a business in 1898.
