OTD: Snow records broke

#Onthisday in 1894, the Schuylerville Standard reported: “The storm of last Thursday broke the record for the past six years and reminded us of the big blizzard of ’88. It snowed just twenty hours. The storm commenced Wednesday night at 8:30 o’clock and continued until 4:30 o’clock Thursday afternoon. The wind raged furiously for several hours and drifted the snow in great heaps. Many trains in various sections were unable to move on the usual time.”
