A Few Lines to Let You Know—the Letters of Alonzo Bump

 “A Few Lines to Let You Know—the Letters of Alonzo Bump”, focused on a village of Victory soldier serving with the Union Army’s 77th New York Regiment in the Civil War is on exhibit at the Saratoga Town Hall, 12 Spring Street in the village of Schuylerville.   The exhibit is on loan from Saratoga County Historical Society at Brookside Museum in Ballston Spa, NY.   The exhibit is in the Morgan Room (where the Senior Meals are served) and is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 to 1 pm and during public meetings in the Schuyler Room.  In addition, the exhibit will be open Sunday, November 15, from 1 pm to 3 pm.  

Brookside Museum scanned and transcribed 62 of his original letters in their collection.  These letters provide a window into his motivations for enlisting, his concerns about family at home, military life, and the harsh realities of the battlefield.
